Another way to frame the issues

  • Can we arrive at a shared vision of the network(s) we want?

  • What might some of the scenarios that would get us there look like?

  • Are there plausible scenarios that would yield other outcomes (i.e., what would lead us towards the network we want, and what would lead us away from it?)

  • Who would actually build and operate the network we want?

  • What are the technological building blocks of the network we want?

  • Given the network we want, what business opportunities and end-user advantages would it afford?  In other words, what would we do with it?

  • What might such a network do with us and to us?

  • What might it do without us?

  • What might the devices that inhabit this network look like, and how might they behave?

  • Given the network we want, would it have undesirable emergent properties?

  • What are the practical considerations, the business and regulatory issues, the status quo and its advocates, the Innovator's Dilemma and other roadblocks that keep us from building the network we want?

  • Are there other related topics that emerge, e.g., from pre-conference discussions among prospective participants?
