Connectivity spells J.O.B.S.
Auburn, Indiana: Cooper-Standard Automotive was going to move 75 high tech jobs out of town when the Mayor of Auburn stepped up and said, Hey, let's grab a fiber from the trans-continental Sprint cable and provide "industrial strength Internet." The jobs are staying, the Internet service will go live in 90-120 days.
The city did it because no private company would.

And since then they have moved out 300 engineering, production and finance jobs. That company has completely obliterated the Auburn campus. Most of the jobs that are left pay much less than they used to and the benefits absolutely suck! The company is no longer an employer of choice in Auburn or anywhere for that matter.
I can tell you that since I have left that company I am much better off professionally and financially. I am proof that the grass is much greener on the other side. I know of a number of others who used to work at Cooper who have said the same thing. I hope Auburn and the state of Indiana no longer provide Cooper or any other Detroit based company any further incentives. Those companies do not deserve it! Indiana would be much better off if it would distance itself from Detroit Automotive.
