Weinberger & Isenberg Start Cargo Cult
Mainstream journo Andrew Orlowski, writing in The Register, quoting world renowned network discrimination expert Richard Bennett, says
I resent the accusation that we "understand virtually nothing about how the Internet is put together"! By now, everybody knows that, "The Internet is a series of tubes." The world renowned expert Senator who knows everything about the Internet, the very feller writing the new Net Discrimination law, told us that.
Orlowski once accused Tim O'Reilly's eTech of being a Clay Shirky cult, so DW and I are in good company!
Bennett identified four kinds of Neutralist . . .Orlowski and Bennett forgot the fifth kind of Neutralist -- Internet customers.
* The end-to-end cargo cult, a group of people who understand virtually nothing about how the Internet is put together, but who nevertheless make their living explaining its implications. David Isenberg, David Weinberger, and friends.
* Big Content companies . . .
* Political bloggers . . .
* Bewildered PACs . . .

Let us not forget the sixth kind of Neutralist – Free Market Believer (FMB) .. Who is against any kind of government imposed regulation.
I firmly believe that government needs to stay out of internet politics and let the market decide it’s fate.
The FCC has a problem in understanding technology, market and possibilities. They’ve already taken positions to consider broadband access as a information service in one argument and not in another.
Can you imagine how US Congress and Senate , lead by high powered lobbyists fare? I can – it will be filled with pork barrel politics and mis-judgment every step of the way.
Technology and market moves at a face pace, existing internet governing bodies have depth in understanding both and are driven by a free market process.
Government imposed laws (or non laws) will be flawed allowing for non-free market activities to blossom.
