Quote of Note: Tom Tauke
"We don't want to get into the business of inspecting the bits and figuring out what is and is not appropriate traffic."
Tom Tauke, Verizon EVP Public Affairs, Policy and Communications, at the State of the Net conference yesterday, quoted here.

Yeah yeah yeah. But there was a better quote. During the lunch time talk for some reason the volume on Sen Godlatte dropped. People in the back of the room began to yell "volume - cant hear." Now Tauke could have turned to the sound guy and say - hey technical guy, turn up the bandwidth. Did he? No. He turned to the audience, and reprimanded the audience saying, not hearing the Congressman is not an opportunity for you to have a conversation with your neighbor, you people in the middle of your lunch need to stop using your utensils, and you waiters, if you could stop making noise too.
Option A: Fix the Technology
Option B: Blame the Audience
The rep from Verizon opted for Option A and blamed the Audience (just like Verizon blames the customers instead of fixing the network).
