American Airlines tweets4investors, CustSvcFAIL
American Airlines twitter handle is AAirwaves. AAirwaves tweeted all day today about the American Airlines shareholder meeting. But it doesn't do customer service, it doesn't tweet about airline delays, weather, fare deals, etc. At American I'm Platinum, been a card carrying AAperson since 1982, but AAirwaves tweets me like chopped liver, saying "AA.Com does that, but not on twitter." Gosh, thanks for the news, I'm on AA.com every week.
As you can see from this post, @AlaskaAir actually tweets4customers.

I'm not on twitter, but use texting and IM.
Here's my experience last week flying on AA.
I was on my way to my niece's wedding in New York. Family went on other airlines (I had FF miles in AA) from Phoenix.
My flight was to leave PHX @ 7 AM, stop over in Chicago, and arriving in NY@4:30 pm w/a 2 hour drive to wedding to follow. No one notified us of delays, storms, etc., until we had boarded the plane and pulled away from the runway!
Sat on runway in Phx 4 hours, finally left, but had to circle; couldn't land in Chicago due to t'storms there. Had to make emergency landing in Des Moines@4 PM to "refuel." Sat on the runway in Des Moines (no food, water, fresh air) until 8:30 p.m.
Refueled and took off for Chicago. Just made it into Chicago ~ 9:30 pm, when the airport was shut down (tornado winds!). Red Cross set us up with cots, tiny squares they called blankets and airline pillows.
We couldn't leave the area except to go to the bathroom. No food and lights out til 4 AM. No flights next day to NY. Missed the wedding, so waited all day to get a flight anywhere.
Ended up in Philadelphia. 3 flights canceled so I went standby to DFW and then standby to Charleston, SC, to visit other family since mine went to the wedding in NY and I was getting a sore throat, just waiting at airports!
Came home ill and was bummed about not having any way of getting out of the airports, using free wifi or using AA's Admiral's club. Spent 40,000 miles for naught!
Even the troops coming home on leave got stuck in Chicago. They should have been given special quarters through USO.
Anyway... that's my 2 cents on AA's customer service!
I too have been an AA member since August 6, 1984.
